Roughly 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.

The substance had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.

Police then found multiple other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.

Police say initial examinations suggest the substance was probably human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; authorities are not yet aware of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for information.

A senior official commented the vandalism made him speechless and required to be solved quickly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
