Six Suspects Apprehended After €12M Armed Raid on Precious Metals Facility in the French Republic

Six armed perpetrators equipped with assault rifles and handguns detonated charges to breach the security of a precious metals processing plant located in the city of Lyon, resulting in minor injuries to five staff members during what appears to be the newest significant broad daylight robbery to hit the nation.

The audacious robbery was carried out on Thursday afternoon, with officers swiftly apprehending the individuals believed responsible and retrieving the loot estimated to be worth €12M (£10.5 million), according to officials.

Five staff members of the precious metals facility sustained minor injuries as a result of the detonation, and three individuals required hospital checks for evaluation, officials confirmed. A total of twenty-eight staff were at the location when the thieves struck.

The suspects, considered seasoned offenders, were arrested shortly after the incident in the adjacent municipality of the town of Vénissieux, a source close to the investigation stated.

A woman involved involved in the raid was also apprehended, according to law enforcement.

“Six people who utilized explosives in a raid against a metals processing plant in Lyon, France were apprehended red-handed,” the nation's interior minister declared on social media, lauding police for their “decisiveness, speed and control”.

Assault rifles, handguns and explosives were also confiscated.

The heist took place as law enforcement in France on the same day apprehended five additional individuals, among them a key figure, in relation to this month's brazen raid on the Louvre museum.

Many investigative personnel have been hunting four perpetrators who utilized a lorry with a hydraulic lift and cutting equipment to break into an upper-level exhibition space at the renowned museum on 19 October, making off with precious items estimated to be worth 88 million euros.
